REMINDER NOTICE - SUMMER GENERAL MEETING - TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2015, 8 PARK VISTA LOBBY

PVTA Summer General Meeting will be held at 8 Park Vista Lobby, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 7pm to 8pm.

Guest Speakers: Janet Davis, City Councillor, Ward 31 and John Plumadore, Chair, FMTA (Federation of Metro Tenants Association). In addition Helen Chilas, FMTA Member for 1501 Woodbine Avenue will be in attendance.

This is a great opportunity to meet your current PVTA Board, sign up as a PVTA Member (if you already haven't done so), a chance at our 50/50 Draw, plus refreshments will be served.

Park Vista Tenants' Association Board of Director News

Announcement!

Unfortunately, Lynn Nikolaidis has resigned her position as Treasurer effective July 22, 2015 due to the hectic demands of her career. Her contributions, dedication and hard work will be missed and on behalf of the Board of Directors and PVTA Members we gratefully thank her and wish her continued success and best wishes with her future endeavors.

On a positive note, we have 2 exciting new interim Board Members, Carole Ward from 2 Park Vista has graciously accepted the role of Secretary/Treasurer and Patricia Steward from 6 Park Vista has accepted the role as General Director. Both are long term residents of Park Vista and bring to the Board additional insight, experience and professionalism that will be sure to strengthen our Board and Association.

Congratulations to Carole & Patricia! Welcome to the PVTA Board!

Fire, Health and Safety Alert


CHARCOAL BBQ'S ARE NOT LEGAL

Capreit posted a reminder for ALL Park Vista residents about the use of charcoal barbecues and as well this reminder is posted here in case you may have missed it.

Please be advised that the City of Toronto's Health Inspector has indicated that charcoal barbecues are strictly prohibited and may only be operated no less than 8 meters (25 feet) away  from any home. Charcoal barbecues are HIGHLY TOXIC and are not permitted on balconies of multi residential apartment buildings.

Any resident using a charcoal barbecue may be fined by the City of Toronto's Health Inspector and Fire Department. 

Should you own a charcoal barbecue please remove it from the property immediately. In addition, if you are aware of anyone using a charcoal BBQ please notify the Capreit Management Office or advise your Resident Manager, ASAP, your full cooperation is greatly appreciated,










Park Vista - Capreit Management Availability & Work Orders


Capreit Management Hours & Services:

  1. On site staff is available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  2. After 6:00 p.m. emergency calls only, all other queries are deferred during business hours
  3. Emergencies are fire, floods or life threatening situations - if line is busy, please leave a message and it will be returned asap
  4. Visitor parking passes are not issued after 7:00 p.m.
  5. Locked out and it is after business hours? - Capreit Management Staff will NOT provide entry to the building or to your apartment in the event you have lost or misplaced your keys, you will need to call a locksmith or have a back up contingency in place
Requests for Maintenance Service (Work Orders):

Work Orders can be submitted in 3 ways for your convenience: 
  1. Hand delivery - to regional office located at building # 8 - buzz code #1 and deliver the work order to the office staff present during business hours or slide under the glass door after hours
  2. Email - scan your work order and email to Pat Miller,  p.miller@capreit.net
  3. Fax - fax your work order direct to 416-285-6154
An added note for summer vacations & Capreit staff availability:
Resident Manager Alex Falcon is absent for the month of July 2015, his duties will be covered by maintenance manager Cristian Voicu and the rest of the maintenance support staff, if you should experience any issues, please do not hesitate to contact Capreit's office at 416-750-4228 (8am to 6pm) and for AFTER HOURS (emergencies)

Swimming at the Park Vista Pool

Summer is here and its mid July already, the pool has been available to all residents of Park Vista since July 2, 2015. A reminder memo was posted by Capreit and in case you missed it, below is the safety protocols to help ensure a fun & safe summer for all.

Ontario Health Regulations:

  • No person having a communicable disease or open sores on their body shall enter the pool
  • No person shall bring in a glass container or food into the pool area
  • No diving allowed
  • No running
  • No person shall pollute the pool water in any manner
  • No person shall engage in boisterous play in the pool or pool area
  • The maximum number of persons allowed in the pool or on the deck is 25
  • The lifeguard has full authority of the swimming pool
In addition to the above listed Ontario Health Regulations, the Lifeguard will be enforcing the following:
  • Guests:  Maximum of 1 guest per suite and resident MUST accompany guest
  • Age Restrictions:  Children under 12 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult, children under 7 years of age must be DIRECTLY supervised by an adult within arms length at ALL times (an adult is considered a person over the age of 16 years) 
  • Toys:  Balls, noodles, water toys are only permitted under the discretion of the lifeguard as trained by the pool company
  • Life Jackets/PFD: Personal flotation devices (PFD) are permitted in the pool, only in the shallow end with adult supervision and within arms length
  • Items on deck: Residents and guests are not permitted to bring items on the deck (i.e. bikes, strollers, skateboards, roller-blades, etc etc)
  • Pets: Pets are not permitted on the deck
  • Deep End Test: Any swimmers requesting to swim in the deep end must be able to complete 2 widths of the pool and tread water for 30 seconds
  • Proper Swimwear: All swimmers must wear proper swimwear in the pool. Clean white T-shirts are allowed but not street clothes
  • Children in Diapers: Diapers are not permitted in the pools. Contamination of the pool will result in evacuation of the pool for approximately 1-2 days while the pool is drained and refilled
  • Weekend Usage & Hot Days: The pool will be cleared every 1/2 hour to facilitate higher volumes of swimmers during the weekend and on very hot days (+30 degrees C / 92 degrees F)
