Summer PVTA General Meeting was a Great Success!

Thank you to all those that came to join in our General Meeting on July 28th, 2015 held at 8 Park Vista, Lobby. We had special guest speakers - Janet Davis, City Councillor, Ward 31 and from FMTA, we had John Plumadore, Chair, Helen Chilas, Director of FMTA and Chair for 1501 Woodbine Ave Tenants' Association, as well Euridice Baumgarten, FMTA Representative, well over 65 people were in attendance to listen to our brief history on our re-ignited Association, an introduction to each of our Board Members as well as speaking about the issues we face at Park Vista.

Janet Davis spoke about Tenant Associations and the positive impact they have and reminded everyone that over 50% of Torontonians live in Apartments and carry the bulk of property taxes via our monthly rent. Janet also provided a quick briefing on the work she is doing on behalf of us, her Constituents at City Hall, and some of the great ideas that are in progress for the benefit of Tenants, she also touched on Property Standards and reiterated that any changes to the Tenant/Landlord Act would fall under provincial legislature. In addition provided some insight to the rights of Landlords and Tenants as well as an overview of the area and what is new. Janet also invited those in attendance to feel free to write to her with any concerns and she would certainly do her best to follow up. Janet was a gracious guest speaker and truly a wonderful evening having her attend our first of many general public meetings.
